Pre-Christmas Season

***HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007 in advance!! Have a blasting new year and enjoy yourself to the max!!

Finally got this photo uploaded.

This entry is long overdue la! It was more than a week ago?

Anyway, i am still enjoying and i cherish each and every hour i have in Penang.

The First Week of My Break - Pre-Christmas season.

I've been to Queensbay Mall uncountable times now but still not bored of it. It's probably one of the only malls in Malaysia with a spectacular seafront view - better than Gurney's often dry and muddy seafront. All they need to do is to develop the front and make it more pedestrian friendly.

The excitement from Queensbay Mall is still very visible today especially over the weekend with local cars and oustation cars particularly those frm KL, Singapore, Perak and Kedah queuing up kilometres away just to enter Queensbay and people crowding the mall particularly the food outlets at lower ground - it's as if they don't have to pay!

It's impossible not to bump into someone you know if you visit Queensbay this time around! I even bumped into one of my juniors from HELP at Queensbay, she's a KLite somemore. The crowd in Penang this holiday season is an extra boost to my holiday mood though it took me longer to drive from one point to the other on the island and had to queue forever be it when looking for parking, when eating out or watching a movie.

Next highlight was when Dawson and Noel's group of 4, 'The Voce' a.k.a upcoming Il Divo of Penang went up to perform on stage in Gurney Plaza in conjunction with the pre-Christmas celebrations. It all came as a surprise! I didn't know they've come this far! I can hear Dawson laughing louder these days! *nightmare

The best part of that week was catching up with friends. Almost everyone was back in Penang! Bumped into friends from Queensbay to Gurney, some haven't seen for a long time. Then, met up with many who were back from elsewhere, a few times in Queensbay, Gurney etc.

It's gotta be the best pre-Christmas gift ever - sitting around the island from morning till morning again? (past midnight). Tiring but absolutely fun! It was just the first week but i was SATISFIED liao!

Asia's Internets Crawl

It took me half an hour to put up this entry!

I'm sure most of you were informed about the earthquake in Taiwan which damaged the underwater cables causing internet connections throughout Asia to come to a crawl.

I have tons of pictures taken over the week in my laptop - gatherings with friends, Christmas Day pics, pre-Christmas Day pics, post-Christmas Day pics and a lot more but it's impossible to upload them at my photo-hosting website at the moment due to the terribly slow connection.

I don't know when will our high-speed connection be restored but i will post them as soon as the cables are fixed.

Blessed Christmas!

Christmas is not all about presents, new clothes, holidays, santa clause, christmas tree, grand dinner or partying but this is the day where we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour.

Thanks for all the wishes especially those of you who called from the countdown in Gurney and not forgetting the international calls! This is my last and most meaningful Christmas with people i love and cherish until 2008.

A blessed Christmas to my mom and dad, family members, brothers and sisters in Christ, my buddies, church friends, classmates, my valued friends, faithful readers and citizens of the world.

Have a great day and may God bless you on this great and significant occasion!

I can't wait for Christmas morning!

Year 2006 – Reflections

It's about time for us to bid goodbye to year 2006 and welcome 2007. It’s also time for me to reflect back on the important events of my life throughout the year.

If you guys remember, my 2006 started off badly. Barely 3 hours into 2006, I got into a violent encounter with a bunch of mat rempits! Though I wasn’t badly injured, the incident left an impact on me la. I’m much more careful nowadays especially when I see suspicious characters around me.

What a start for the year!

Hmm….let’s see what are the other significant events that happened to me in year 2006.

- This is a terrific year for traveling. I’ve never traveled so much before in my life. It all started with the journey to our very own paradise – Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Redang and Pulau Lang Tengah. Love the place, people, food, tour guides, boat driver, boat ride, the sea, fishes, turtles, dolphins, corals and the turquoise water. I'm planning to go back next year.

- I took AirAsia for the first time and set foot in KLIA for the very first time too. Don’t laugh if you happen to be a frequent flyer or used KLIA a million times already.

- It was also my first trip to the East Coast and Terengganu. It’s a different place altogether compared to the West Coast states of Peninsular Malaysia. Life there is very slow...VERY.

- After traveling to Terengganu, I worked part-time in KL for the first time - the telemarketing line in Malaysia’s largest and most happening fitness centre. It was a love-hate kinda thing working there. I love the people and pay but I hate the job – boring, tiring and you will get scolded/cursed at least once a day over the phone.

This is not a club or bar but the leisure corner in True Fitness.

- I exhausted the pay from my part-time jobs combined for another unexpected trip. The real paradise made up of thousands of tiny islands – The Maldives. This is an unforgettable travel destination la.

- Landed in the land of Tamil Tigers for the first time – Sri Lanka enroute to Maldives and saw plenty of coconut trees.

- Flying in the sea plane across atolls and hundreds of islands and onboard the world’s only passenger submarine. PRICELESS.

- Moved to a new room in KL. I love my new room - newly renovated, airy, located in a secured neighbourhood and a place fit to be called my second home. Hate the internet there though.

- Life there is such a routine – go to college, eat (mostly horrible food), sleep, go to malls, watch dramas in the room and online until internet oso kaput. Basically like that lo. Always confined to Damansara and PJ but will travel to Subang more often when I go back.

- Finished reading my first book. I just bought the second book from Penang's first Borders. I’ve never finished reading books I started, lol. I don’t normally read la but due to the unstable internet connection at my place I bought a few books to read whenever the connection is down.

- Completed my first year without any resits but i didn't get any As!!!

- Our 3rd anniversary :)

- I miss my hometown friends and buddies. I hardly get to meet all of them together. Sigh.

- Celebrated my 21st Birthday twice but many didn't turn up coz my birthday falls on the most stressful and busiest month of the year. Sudah biasa la.

- A blessed year for traveling as I set off to another destination in October – back to China to trace my ancestral roots. It is an eye opener to see the remains of the great ancient Chinese civilization and how our Chinese brothers are progressing of late. It was quite embarrassing that I couldn’t communicate with them in Mandarin though.

- Spent hours eating and shopping at Hong Kong's sophisticated airport during the transits.

- I am officially broke for more travelling. I spent all my savings from my part time jobs on those trips d. I desperately need money to continue globe trekking so I signed up for PayPerPost hoping to earn some US Dollars from it. Don't worry, i wont' spam my own blog with those sponsored entries.

- This is also my second year at HELP and we had intakes combined. I'm glad to have more classmates this year and of course the opportunity to know people from other intakes better. So far so good :)

- As for my faith, i'm ashame to say that i'm actually slacking this year. Slacking since i went to KL. I still can't seem to attach myself to a church there. I'm making it one of my new year resolution to get myself attached to one. I pray that God will guide me through this.

Overall, year 2006 is pretty generous to me la despite all the ups and downs. I will miss you Year 2006! I don't know what to expect next year. I hope my 2007 will be great but first i have to clear all the hurdles coming my way. Yaiks!

BYE BYE 2006! You will be remembered through this entry.

Learn More About Credit Cards

This is a sponsored post.

Credit cards are becoming increasingly popular today due to its wide range of advantages. I find credit cards more of a convenience but there are also various problems related to the usage of credit card that I fear.

For example, credit cards are extremely convenient for usage at petrol stations. It reduces the time by half as I could easily swipe the card at the credit card machine and start filling up petrol without having to walk to the cashier and wait for the cashier to authorize the pump if I were to use cash.

I also need not worry about having enough cash in my wallet when I carry my credit card as it is widely accepted. However, i constantly worry about my usage of the credit card as credit card debts are prevalent and likely to happen to every user including myself especially when we’re not properly educated on the usage of credit cards.

I find these two links amazingly useful for credit card users and it will help credit card users in using credit cards wisely and effectively.

Credit card news provides you with the latest information with regards to credit cards while Credit card advice helps users to use credit cards wisely and effectively.

Home is the Best

Spent 5 hours crawling on the North-South Expressway just now.

There was a massive jam somewhere near the Pulau Pinang border due to a couple of nasty accidents. It was a bumper to bumper crawl all the way from the Pulau Pinang border to Bukit Tambun which lasted more than an hour k.

Scene 1

One hand on the wheel and another on my camera. I only managed to capture this coz there were so many police around, i dun wanna be caught driving with one hand. FYI, this truck literally destroyed 3 other vehicles. The cars were beyond recognition, i don't know if there are any survivors. You might see it in the news tomorrow.

Scene 2

Looks like the container contained sand? Why would people use a container to carry sand? Not lorry meh? Maybe precious sand stolen from some beach.

To make it worst, the traffic was horrible upon entering Penang. There were so many outstation cars including Singapore registered cars heading towards the island and the main roads on the island were all severely choked with traffic.

I went around Queensbay later at night but i did not enter coz i was too tired. The mall looks good from the outside but it is pretty obvious that there is still a lot to be done to make it more competitive and fully operational.

First, they should light up the exterior, put up some stuff infront of the mall so it won't look so empty outside and quickly develop the water front just like Gurney Drive. Well, everything doesn't look very organised to me la and from what i heard it is still very disorganised inside so i'm not too keen about entering yet. Probably some time next week la.

However, i must say the TGI Fridays outlet looks good! It's gotta be one of the most beautiful TGIF outlet in Malaysia! Even the 1U outlet doesn't look half as good as this outlet k. The Queensbay outlet is doing very very well at the moment. There was a queue outside at 9.30pm!

Anyway, it feels good to be home after 2 months! Woohoo!

Last Friday

My internet drought is over!! Or at least almost over la. My landlord kinda fixed the thing for now but anyhow i'm heading back north for my sem break really really soon!

Umm....i'll just blog about the events for last weekend first.

Last friday was super lovely mainly because we've not had that much fun and rest ever since the chain of workload started.

Check out the lightings for Christmas! Beautiful eh....

We went to Chili's to celebrate Zthon's birthday and at the same time party to the handing-up-of-assignment week. In fact, almost the whole law department in HELP were partying that weekend.

I love the Monterey Chicken i ordered.....damn good la!

We spent the whole night at Chili's...not whole night la but from about 9pm - 12am? Got stucked in the traffic jam at Sprint Highway for almost an hour coz of the rain and after work traffic.

After enjoying the good food at Chili's we decided to drop by Laundry Bar at The Curve since the law society held some kind of party that Friday celebrating the handing up ONE of our five assignments. lol.

I decided not to drink.....really scared of my allergy outbreak which got me gatal one whole week so i had Coke campur Heineken only, at least the effect won't be that bad. Hehehe.

Laundry Bar is a reasonably nice place and we don't have to go down all the way to KL. I like the place and also the crowd but they close kinda early on Fridays ler. Music off at 1.30am?? Hmm.....

Oh yea, while we were there the Battle of the Bands was still going on so we managed to catch the final minutes of the event.

I'm going back to Penang at the end of this week, gonna miss KL for a while but i miss Penang much more. Yay! I'm going home!

I Broke 2 Records Today

My internet has been down for 2 days and still counting and i don't think it will be fixed any time soon. I'm blogging from Yon Li's place so i don't have to pay for Frappuccino at Starbucks in order to online.

High-speed internet = LIFE.

There are so many things i can't do without it. Chat, blog, read the news, kaypo blogs, submit my UCAS, research for my assignment, research for tutorials, friendster, check my mails, reply mails, foruming, download music, A LOT la.

Am relaxing a little after finishing my assignment and my UCAS application.

Next agenda would be my time test just before my break.

Ok, back to the title of the post.

For the record, i was issued my first DBKL ticket this morning and being such a goodie i paid up in less than 2 hours, ahem. I almost mistaken the DBKL HQ for a 5 star hotel! It's so grand i tell u. Service was also 5 star!

I pressed A for 'Bayaran' and my number was called right after that.

DBKL officer: 30 ringgit.
Me: 30 ringgit ah? Tak ade diskaun? (End Year Megasales ma)
DBKL officer: Ohh, mau diskaun yea? Tekan C untuk kompaun.
Me: ??? *but happy la at least got discount.

*press C for 'kompaun'. number called in less than 5 seconds.

Me: Baru kena 2 jam yang lalu. Tolong bagi diskaun k?
DBKL officer2: memang budak baik....10 ringgit ok?
Me: OK!! Terima kasih!!

- i made it up la she didn't say budak baik but i knew she was gonna say that, HAHAHA.
- i actually parked on the yellow line again at the DBKL HQ to pay, same offence why i kena.
- went for a ride around KLCC and Bt. Bintang like i was just freed from prison after paying my tiny lil fine and then started dreaming of owning the sports cars and the apartment suites we saw before going back to college. blek!

Mooting

I'm exhausted.....it's 2am and i have class tomorrow.

I spent the whole day cracking my head for my assignment yet i still haven't converted all my ideas into the 3000 words required. Mooting down, UCAS application almost done, assignment half-way, what else? Yea, time test and tutorial questions and i'll have my long overdue break!!

Actually i don't have time to blog and i'm too tired to blog but i feel obligated to do it. I just can't leave my blog not updated for too many days la.

OK, here's my mooting entry. Had so much stress that week coz of tutorials, UCAS and followed by mooting! The agony of waiting for our case to be called was horrible. We waited for more than half an hour?

My partner, the future Attorney General of Maldives, hahaha.

It was my third mooting but i was still nervous, hehehe.

Counsel for the respondent

It was an appeal case on tort so there isn't much to argue like last semester's criminal law case. That one was really dramatic and long! It took us half a day. This time we only had to present our case and endure his expected outrage when you don't have a strong case. He actually made 2 or 3 girls cry in this sem's advance mooting. Really nasty fella, hehehe.

We did quite ok this round i guess. It was fun but the bundle of authority wasn't easy.

I heart law! Law rocks man!
